With the news that Rachel McAdams may not be playing the part of The Black Cat in Spider-Man 4 , Julia Stiles and Anne Hathaway have taken her spot as the actresses rumored for the role. UGO reports that Stiles has met with a casting company in New York to discuss a role in Spider-Man 4 . Meanwhile, Deadline Hollywood reports that Hathaway has been approached for a role in the movie. While neither reports indicate that a particular role was offered, speculation persists that both actresses are up for the role of the Black Cat. The character of The Black Cat is still only unofficially confirmed, but the search is certainly on for a female role in Spider-Man 4 — a move that only strengthens the argument that the role is Spidey's most infamous female villain. If Spider-Man 4 contains the character of The Black Cat , it's doubtful that Rachel McAdams will play the role. McAdams responded to Entertainment Weekly about the online speculation. That's a total rumor, I have to say. I was hanging out in Toronto the other day and someone came up to me and said, "I just heard you're doing Spider-Man 4 ." And I said,"Really? No one told me !" It's not true. Of course, the original report only said that McAdams had met with Spider-Man 4 producers, not that she had the role. Still, a Sony rep confirmed that the McAdams casting is "an Internet rumor, as so many things are these days." The search for an actress to play The Black Cat is still reportedly ongoing.RYAN GOWLAND
With The Black Cat unofficially confirmed as Spider-Man 4 's female villain, Sony is still trying to cast the movie's male villain. SpoilerTV has found the latest casting notice for Spider-Man 4 , and it could be for the male villain that Sony is looking for. [TODDLER BOY] 2 or 3 year old boy to play 2 year old, Caucasian with RED HAIR, an adorable toddler with an engaging personality, on set experience preferred. IDENTICAL TWINS ONLY Ok, so, as far as we know, "Toddler Boy" is not a known Spider-Man villain, but with that "red hair" could the child be a flashback version of Cletus Kasady , a.k.a. Carnage ? After all, Carnage was once rumored to be the Spider-Man 4 villain. If not Carnage, could the child's red hair mean that Mary Jane ( Kirsten Dunst ) has a baby in the movie? Or will Spider-Man simply save a red-haired child at some point? All we can say for sure is that Spider-Man 4 will feature a baby in some capacity.RYAN GOWLAND
On Monday, word got out that Rachel McAdams was meeting with producers to possibly play the role of Felicia Hardy, a.k.a The Black Cat, in Spider-Man 4 . Meanwhile, Emma actress Romola Garai revealed to The Observer that she was put "on tape" for a part in Spider-Man 4 last week, and while Garai never specified what role she was up for, her similarity to McAdams led to more speculation that the Black Cat was the villain in the upcoming sequel. Now HeyUGuys has confirmed with their "sources" that the role of the Black Cat is indeed up for grabs. According to our friendly neighborhood spider-source there are anumber of actresses currently being considered for the role, but this at least confirms that Hardy is going to be in the film. The arc of the Hardy character was also revealed, and somewhat follows Hardy's background from the comic books.
