-+Imperfection
1103 days ago
An elderly Chinese woman had two large pots, each hung on the ends of a pole which she carried across her neck. One of the pots had a crack in it while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water. At the end of the long walk from the stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only half full. For a full two years this went on daily, with the woman bringing home only one and a half pots of water. Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments. But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it could only do half of what it had been made to do. After two years of what it perceived to be bitter failure, it spoke to the woman one day by the stream. "I am ashamed of myself, because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your house." The old woman smiled, "Did you notice that there are flowers on your side of the path, but not on the other pot's side?" ...

"Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind." - Dr. Seuss   "Much of life can never be explained but only witnessed." - Rachel Naomi Remen, MD NAIROBI (AFP) - A baby hippopotamus that survived the tsunami waves on the Kenyan coast has formed a strong bond with a giant male century-old tortoise, in an animal facility in the port city of Mombassa, officials said. The hippopotamus, nicknamed Owen and weighing about 300 kilograms (650 pounds), was swept down Sabaki River into the Indian Ocean, then forced back to shore when tsunami waves struck the Kenyan coast on December 26, 2004 before wildlife rangers rescued him. "It is incredible. A-less-than-a-year-old hippo has adopted a male tortoise, about a century old, and the tortoise seems to be very happy with being a 'mother'," ecologist Paula Kahumbu, who is in charge of Lafarge Park, told AFP. "After it was ...

When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 cups of coffee. A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was. The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was. The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with an unanimous "yes." The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the ...

At the end of last week I found myself in a very artistic/creative mood. Not sure what caused it exactly but I just wanted to make something. I started looking at art others have made to feed my craving for art while I was stuck at work but it only made me want to make something even more. I also saw many people using a program I had heard of before but never tried. I started reading up more about it and that turned my craving into a more specific one of wanting to make something with that program. But while it takes awhile to get so meanwhile I compiled some of the art I had saw earliar into one piece. Which I titled Unified Beauty. Since its too big to fit nicely in here I will just leave you this link to go view it: Unified Beauty but all credit belongs to the creators of the images I used in it: c-dawg , Homeryulo  and andidas .   Once the program which is known as Maxon Cinema 4D or just C4D finished. I created this: Council of Ruin . Ulzhan's artistic ...
