Once the group was ready we went over the hand signals and formation instructions we were off and running. With Sparky in the lead and Rick Brown pulling sweep with Jacques we jumped on the Hwy 80 then to 65 and Lincoln. The road was great temp was just right we made every light to Marysville and of course the light that we had to stop at is the left turn in town. We then headed north to Oroville for fuel and rest. We lost Hoppy as his back was hurting so he bid up a farewell and headed for home as we continued to Oroville. Let me start with this is going to be a cold ride and I was not wrong as we did not get out of our cold gear all day as you can tell by the pics. With Alan, Wayne and his buddy Eric, and Sparky with his daughter Barbara we headed for the Ironstone Winery in Murphy's for lunch. As always this is a very scenic ride but when it is cold you just don’t seem to pay attention to the scenery and more on the road and how warm you are. We left from the IHOP in Folsom and headed to Ione by way of the Latrobe road to hwy 16 then Willow Creek road and into Ione. With a short stop in Ione we headed for the second stop of the day at Valley Springs. I took the crew to Camanche Lake and over Pardee dam which is always a nice view. After a short break and we headed up hwy 12 to Angels camp and up the Murphy's Grade (nice road). And then into the Winery. The group milled around checking out the Daffodil festival that they have every year about this time. After a good lunch (and for those ...

John Cox, Stew, Rick & Beth, Sparky and his daughter Brandy met at Lyon's for breakfast. The group took a lazy ride down the river. We Criss crossed the river trying to cross every bridge. I think I missed 1. As we reached Rio Vista a Freighter was passing thru on his way to the bay. This of course had traffic backed up for a while so we pulled over and shut down the bikes until the traffic cleared. Even with this delay we got into Rio Vista a wee bit early for lunch. So we hung out for a while before heading to Fosters for lunch. The lunch was as always good and the service prompt. With meals consumed and good conversation continuing out the door to was time to hit the pavement and head ourselves home. So we headed out of town and on to the ferry's and the bridges that we all love when running the river. And as usual we had at least one person who had never been on these ferry's. The group made it back to Freeport when John dropped off to head his way home, Other went on ...

What a day for a ride. Yes it did start out cold but the day warmed up to be warmer than the morning. John Cox, Nick, Stew, Frank W., Rick and Beth all showed up for breakfast and John Flovin and his son Scott, Allen showed up as we finished our breakfast. So with 8 bikes ready to roll we headed out I-5 to woodland where we set into a nice pace for the day. The course took us out Hwy 16 to Hwy 20. Our first stop of the day was at the Cache Creek Casino. After a short break it was on the road again. We headed to Hwy 20 and made our way to Clear Lake Oaks. Once at Clear Lake Oaks the group grew smaller by with John Cox, Nick and Stew heading back as they had time issues to be met. We said our goodbyes and requested that John send me an email or leave a voice mail so I knew the got home ok. With that the remaining group headed for Hwy 53 then to 29 down to Calistoga. Now originally I want to take everyone to play on Cob Mtn but time did ...

It was a beautiful day for a ride and have a picnic. With Rich B., Fran k M and his passenger Sue in tow sparky went looking for a little adventure before the picnic. We left Carrows at 9 and headed up Hwy 80 to Hwy 49 and parts unexplored (we later found out why). We made the stop at Higgins corner for the first br eak. Then proceeded down Wolf rd to Lime Kiln Rd to Indian Springs to Pleasant Valley and then back onto Hwy 49. We made a stop at the covered br idge for a nice stretch of the legs. Now this next turn is a little tricky as you can only see it come down from Downeyville. So we made the first of several turn a round’s to find this road. Once you find For 47 (actual name) also known as Pendola Rd and this is where the adventure begins. This merry little band of bikers head down a road that for the most part is a one lane road. But you get the feeling like you are riding down a path lined with trees and bushes ...
