Organizations Volunteer fire departments across our area are always looking for a way to raise money for their companies. Fire officials in Sunbury are hoping to raise much-needed cash and put you behind the wheel of a brand new car. "We will do whatever it takes to raise money for our fire department, anything from chicken barbeques to spaghetti dinners to selling raffle tickets, even chancing off a new car," said Dan Saxton, a firefighter with Goodwill Hose Company in Sunbury. The latest fundraiser involves a 2008 Ford Mustang Coupe with 210 horsepower, a six-disc changer, power seats and plenty more options. Saxton said he's trying to make a profit of around $10,000 to help pay the department's growing bills. "The cost of fuel to run these big trucks is just enormous and with rising costs of everything else, we are struggling.
