Ingredients for a fantastic BBQ - MEd TESOL way 1 good weather prediction 1 fantastic spot in the huge field - preferably with grass, trees and access to a wide blue sky Around 20-odd people - preferably mixed nationalities 4 cute kids 3 disposable grills - or a medium sized portable grill A lighter 10 litres of liquid 8 kg of meat 2 huge packet of crisps A frissbee or a football First, excite and build anticipation with promises of great food. Leave it to rest for a day. Next, ensure the good weather and spot in the field is well secured. Add the 20-odd people and 4 cute kids into the mix - make sure the noise made is at a mind-blowing decibel. Throw in the grill, lighter, liquid, meat and crisps - make sure the mixture is in a frenzy mood. Finally decorate it with a frissbee or a football. To know if it is ready - the mixture has to be bubbly, smoky and filled with laughter! That is how a good BBQ is thrown.

Meeting and separation is bitter-sweet. Meeting exudes a sunshiny colour - mixture of honey yellow with pink tint. Separation gives out splashes of greyish dark blueish hue. Both colours, put together, exhibit a strong contrast - life should be vivid, clear, mind and soul bewitching. One of my principles in life is that “it is never goodbye, but see you soon”. Very positive, sugary and cheerleader feel. Probably in huge doses would lead to toothache or diabetes. One never knows how life would turn out and to say goodbye is like closing a chapter in life instead of allowing a continuum (this depends on context, e.g. friends and family). In a way, it gives one an initiative or purpose to maintain the fragile connection (loaded with emotions and memories) which in these times are sorely needed. What pops into my head my I hear Amsterdam (in no particular order): - - the smell of weed - the ringing of the church bells or clocks - the rain - the canal - Anne Frank - friendly amsterdamers - lots of bicycles - Boris - huge Schiphol airport - van Gogh - TALL people Definitely a city one must visit.
