Muncie--Connections formed on the failed CBS series, "Armed and Famous" are now going to benefit the Muncie police department. Ozzy's son, Jack, has maintained an ongoing friendship with his former television supervisor, MPD Sgt. Jay Turner. When Jack learned that Turner's 13 yr old K9 partner, Rover, needed to retire, he convinced his dad to donate $10,000 for the purchase of a new K9 officer. The dog's chosen new name? Ozzy, of course. Rover, after serving for the police department since 2000, will now get to retire and protect Turner's family, instead if working the streets. Ozzy, the new K9 officer, is being trained by Vohne Liche Kennels out of Denver, Ind., and should be ready to join the force soon. It appears that the 3 yr old shepherd is not the only one to strike out into the police world.
