three months ago my husband informed me he was no longer in love with me and wants a divorce. i thought i would not be one of those wives, the one who gets blindsided by an announcement like that. i was wrong. i thought i had the kind of marriage that could weather the downs with the ups. i was wrong. i thought this was the one. i was wrong.

it's been so long since i've written, i lost sight of the reason i started this space. my idea was writing would clear the air for me. it didn't. my idea was that i would feel better, i often did not. it's not about the words i write, it's about the "place" i'm in when i write. and the place i've been in has not been pleasant, but it's improving. i guess i can say i'm improving, as well. everyone has drama, i just hate the particular drama i'm going thru. catharsis comes in many forms, and i hope to return to a place where writing is cathartic again. cheers.

And ANOTHER month has passed, and STILL I have no kitchen. The counter tops were screwed up, twice. Then the island cabinets were missized. Then the sink wouldn't fit. Then the sink faucet broke. I laughed when the contractors said it would be 6 weeks. It's now 3 months. I'm not laughing anymore.

Well, a month later and it's STILL not done. **sigh** But things will move very quickly here. Painting next two days, a weekend to rest, cabinets are scheduled for install on Monday and Tuesday, and hopefully the flooring will be done next Thursday and Friday. Have to get a final inspection in there somewhere. Then it's a weekend to load the cabinets back up, organize the new kitchen, and COOK!!!! That's the cunning plan so far....things could change a a moments notice.....

I have been living in a tore up house for 4 months now. This kitchen remodel has not gone as smoothly as I would have liked, but progress is being made. I had a kitchen to use until yesterday, now it's gutted. Delays occur, stuff happens but now all the pieces should fall into place nicely. The rewiring will be done today (I'm pretty sure.....) and once that's been inspected they can sheet rock. Once that's done I can paint, then the flooring will be done, then the cabinets and that will put me around the end of this month, so maybe we can actually have peeps over for a 4th of july cookout. Entertaining on the 4th of July. That's been my secret goal along. Me having the "secret plan" certainly hasn't made living in this mess easy. J got off the airplane from Afghanistan back in March and he's had to wait for all this to come together.
