I can’t believe the half term holiday has gone already! The week has flown by and we hardly did any of the things we planned to do. We accompanied Peter to work in Derby on Thursday which was a nice trip. He was working in the Westfield Centre which is a massive shopping mall. I purchased some nice clothes for the girls and a new handbag for myself as my favourite bag is about to fall apart at the straps. It’s so hard finding the right bag, my old one had 2 big compartments (one side for me, one side for the girls and their “keep me busy” things). I struggled to find one, however Peter, Lauren and Martha came up trumps and found one for me! Thank you! The highlight of the trip was making an unplanned visit to my Nana’s in Doncaster on the way home. We didn’t see Granda unfortunately, but will try to make some plans before Christmas to do so. We had family “fireworks” today as well and I don’t mean the pretty ones you see in the sky. Sadly, Peter encountered the situation ...

Firstly, apologies for my previous blog. It has so many spelling mistakes, what planet must I have been on!! As suspected, Lauren received not one, but two recognition certificates at the Barnabas assembly that we missed due to our trip to IKEA! She was recognised for working so hard and we’re very proud of her. She worked hard again last week and was allowed to bring Charlie (the class doll) home for half-term much to her delight! Last week was pretty hard with Peter being away and Lauren being poorly, resulting in a day off school on Wednesday. Thankfully Lauren is now on the mend and Peter is back home :-) We’re not going away this half-term so have decided to have one of these new “staycations”! So far I spent a day without doing laundry – whoopee and the four of us spent a day crafting. We’re hoping to go on a couple of day trips, however the weather has been a bit strange so cannot plan too far in advance. We’re looking forward to Friday, when the four of us are ...

Andrew's funeral yesterday was as emotional as expected. Peter and I arrived half an hour early expecting to be there in good time. The church was already full and it was literally standing room only. The service was thoughfully and so personally put together. Mags had organised for Andrew to be taken to the crematoriam with Motorcycle Funerals, it was such a fitting transport for him. It felt so wrong for the young to outnumber the old so much. Jason who was both Andrew and Peter's best man made a very moving speech. It was hard for us being there knowing that such a key member of the circle was missing. I think that we'll notice his absence for a very, very long time to come. The day was hard enough yet it was made harder by the insensitive question of "did you have a nice time then?". Ironically, I was reading my sister's blog today and read the following quote (I'm sure she won't mind me using it, it just seems so pertinent)... The writer, hostess, ...

I really have fallen off the blogging wagon. Things have been busy and to be honest I haven't really been in the right frame of mind to blog for some reason. We celebrated Lauren's 5th birthday with a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse party which Lauren, Martha and her new school friends really enjoyed. The weather was good so we managed to play outside and eat inside which was a big help. She is really settled into school now and emotionally has matured over the past month - we are very proud of her. Martha is adjusting to playgroup without Lauren quite well. She has formed new friendships and like Lauren has matured over the Summer and first month back. We also had some very sad news on Monday, our very good friend Andrew died suddenly and we are both still reeling from the news. I don't know how long it'll take to come to terms with it, but hope that the funeral on Wednesday will help in some way. Life can be very hard sometimes and words are not enough.
