Πέρασαν σχεδόν 5 μήνες από το τελευταίο post. Μέσα σε αυτούς τους μήνες έχει έρθει το πάνω κάτω στην Ελλάδα και τον κόσμο. Έχω την εντύπωση ότι τώρα είναι περισσότερο εμφανές από ποτέ ότι το καζάνι βράζει και όπου να 'ναι θα κάνει μπαμ. Πολύ φοβάμαι ότι αυτά που παρακολουθούμε τις τελευταίες μέρες δεν είναι παρά ένα πολύ μικρό δείγμα του τι ακολουθεί. Δυστυχώς δεν πάμε καθόλου καλά. Από όποια σκοπιά και να τη δεις την κατάσταση είνα μαύρα χάλια... Πολύ χάλια!

Microsoft update kills ZoneAlarm

PUNTERS who use the ZoneAlarm security package might not want to install MS update KB951748. According to several news groups, the first thing you will notice after running the update is that your internet connection dies as KB951748 made changes to the networking files that Zonealarm doesn't like. It then decides to block everything just to be safe. You can get around the problem by setting the Internet Zone Security permission slider from high to medium and that will give you your connection back but that is not really a good idea if you want high security. Sniffing around the forums we found similar advice although, apparently, the best bet is to reset the ZoneAlarm database.

Google Lively - A new world

Out of the blue, Google has announced a new 3D virtual world called 'Google Lively'. The world is similar to Second Life, or the upcoming 'Home' for PS3. Users can create their own 3D "rooms," and deck them out with furniture and other accoutrements, in addition to being able to add themed music to complete your personalized virtual space in Google Lively. Users will be able to visit others' rooms, leave items for other Google Lively netizens as well as being able to stream photos and video. "Based on feedback from ASU [Arizona State University] students and with help from the Google Desktop team, we added support for playing YouTube videos in virtual TVs and showing photos in virtual picture frames inside our rooms. It's the End for 3.11!

For those that were not aware, it was recently announced that effective November 1st, 2008, OEM's will no longer be able to license Windows for Workgroups 3.11 in the embedded channel. Now we all know that it's been long gone in the standard (retail/OEM) channel, but one of the unique things in the embedded business is that we allow the classic OS products to be sold longer than the other channels. it's finally the end of an era! Η Ηλιακή τεχνολογία Πύργων δεν είναι απλά ηλιακή ενέργεια. Η τεχνική χρησιμοποιεί την ακτινοβολία του ήλιου για να θερμάνει μια τεράστια ποσότητα αέρα, η οποία αναγκάζεται, χάρις στους νόμους της φυσικής (γνωρίζουμε ότι ο θερμός αέρας ανυψώνεται), να κινηθεί ως καυτός άνεμος μέσω μεγάλων στροβίλων, ώστε να παραγάγει ηλεκτρική ενέργεια. «Πρόκειται για ένα συνδυασμό καμινάδας, ανεμογεννήτριας και θερμοκηπίου,» σχολιάζει ο Kim Forté από την EnviroMission Limited στην Νότια Μελβούρνη της Αυστραλίας.
