For the past few weeks, I can’t sleep properly, I can’t eat properly (there are days that I have no appetite to eat). In short I am disturbed and worried not because of the current macroeconomic climate and its possible effects on me but simply because of my forehead and what is possibly inside it. Last March, as part of the employment process with my current employer I was asked to go to this multi-specialty clinic somewhere in Ayala to have my pre-employment exam done. Everything went well, except when I encountered this physician and the started asking questions about the prominent bump on the left side of my forehead. Although we had this x-rayed two to three years ago, we didn’t have a closure and it was not properly explained to me. When was the last time that I read a book that is not related to academics? It has been a long time! The last book I read is that Harry Potter Book that I purchased as a High School graduation gift for myself then was sold to the book club by my mother. How about a non-fiction book? Never unless it is IT related. After that it is either: I can’t (but not won’t) buy books or I don’t have time to read a book since I have to finish this and that. I realized that I need to read more when I joined a public speaking organization in UA&P. Our adviser, during one of the exercises in speech suggested that I should read more books (non-IT) so that my views and ideas would not be restricted to a specific field. Later on, I found myself “auditioning” for a speech competition and here I realized (and believed) that I have a LOT of work to do. These are some of the things that I thought that I wanted to do in college but unfortunately I never had the chance. Some of the things here, are things that I still wanted to do as a working person especially #1, #3 – hmm, I don’t know. It’s nice to list them down and set them aside once and for all since I would be very imprudent if I keep on looking back and think that I should have done this and that. Join an Extemporaneous Speech Competition or any other speaking competition – this is one of the things that I really wanted to do during my college years. I have joined numerous competitions related to IT (Web Design Competitions, Quiz Bees) and I wanted to do something different for a change.
