I am distressed at the massive circulation in various media of false statements about my private life and specifically about a supposed sentimental relationship with Ms Alexandra Paressant. In some cases the reports go so far as to conclude that the alleged relationship has had a negative influence on my performance as a professional player. I therefore feel obliged firmly to deny the statements published by issuing this press release. It is entirely untrue that Ms. Paressant and I have had any relationship beyond a conversation between acquaintances and that I have neglected my obligations as a player in the Brazilian team, as the press has suggested. The seriousness of this matter has given me no choice but to leave it in the hands of my lawyers, who have already begun the necessary steps to restore my reputation.

Dear fans, Internet surfers, friends, relatives and the media in general, I know that many of you are curious or even anxious to know how I’m doing and how I’ve been feeling lately... I’m always really happy to step on the field…since playing football is what I love and my sole profession. Many people were expecting a brilliant performance by the Brazilian team and by me, in particular. But that wasn’t the case. I’m sorry that we left the World Cup without fulfilling our capabilities. I’m sad and upset. There’s nothing I can say to change what happened, to change what’s already history…that’s why I want to apologise for not being able, along with my team mates, to win another cup for Brazil. I’ve always had the same desire: to enjoy playing football and to work really hard to make the game exciting for Brazilians and everyone who loves football like me. I’ll be on vacation for one month, ...

I just finished watching the match between Germany and Argentina. A hard game. I was sad to see my friend Messi get eliminated, but that’s the type of game where either side has a good chance of winning. Yesterday, I talked a lot with my family through MSNs and by telephone. My mother, my sister Deisi and my nephew Diego already have flight tickets to Germany for Sunday. If we beat France, and I hope so, my whole family will be here for the final game. You bet it’s a great incentive. I really miss them. My brother Roberto has been here since the cup started. He’s writing a column and a blog for Porto Alegre’s Zero Hora newspaper. He’s always calling me up for information. Yesterday, he told me everybody’s worried I haven’t scored yet. I swear that it doesn’t bother me the slightest bit. Of course I want to score, but what really matters is for the team to win, regardless of whether I score or not. I’m playing a different role, more in the midfield and ...

I just arrived at the hotel in Dortmund, where we’ll be playing against Ghana. It was a fast bus trip. It’s very close. We trained this afternoon, and after dinner we met with coach Parreira before the trip. We’re all eager to start playing. I can’t wait to get on the field. I’m sure it’ll be a great show like the other games in the round of 16. I try to watch the games in which my team-mates play, but it’s hard to cheer for one team when I have friends on both sides. Messi’s team, Argentina, won over Mexico, but the problem is that Rafa Marques plays for Mexico. Like the way I was happy for Deco and his coach Felipão, but sad for Van Bommel and Gio. Hehehe...it ain’t easy. And what about Larson missing the penalty shot on Saturday? Bah. I felt sorry for him. But that’s football. There’s always the chance that your team-mates might play against you on their national team. Well, I hope God protects us tomorrow against Ghana and ...

Everyone is feeling amazingly good. After qualifying early for the round of 16, we’re obviously feeling a bit more relieved. The last game against Australia was tough. But we accomplished our mission. Once again, we did what coach Parreira asked us and, thank God, things have fallen into place. We’ll be feeling more relaxed against Japan, and we’re getting better as time goes by. Now we’ll wait and see who we’re playing against in the next stage. Whoever it is, it won’t be easy pickings. Today, we got acquainted with the Dortmund stadium. It’s an awesome stadium, like all the others we’ve played at. I’m having fun during practice. After the workout with Moraci, that slave driver everyone likes. There’s something I’ve gotta tell you in this Blog, Émerson is still p… off because he finally lost a videogame. Hehehehe. Last night I played with Manchester United and won in the penalty shots with Gilberto after two games, then I beat Émerson 1 to 0 and ...
