The Isle of Harris is one of the most beautiful places in the world, so much so that the number of visitors, to the island, increase every year. Of course I am slightly biased as I live on the island but, for a great many years, I was simply a tourist taking my annual vacation on the Isle of Harris. I fell in love with the place and, after ten years visiting, I decided to up sticks and move. That was many years ago and I am still often amazed at the absolute beauty of this most incredible island in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. The Outer Hebrides (also known as the Western Isles) and the Isle of Harris are unique in the United Kingdom of Great Britain. Many in the U.K. do not even know that this group of islands are only a few miles off the north western coast of mainland Scotland and some find themselves surprised to hear that the islands have all the modern comforts such as electricity.
