Waking up this morning it seemed like any other day, except it became a wonderful day when I saw the mini article about New Moon on the cover of Arts & Life. I can say that I love the series, but truthfully, I AM OBSESSED. What I wear, what I say, what I do and how I do it, all relates to the Twilight series. Some friends think I'm crazy, but how can they not be themselves? It is an AMAZING story. To be entirely truthful though, at first I was one of those Twilight haters, but my best friend, Terri, gave me the books for my 16th birthday. As soon as I opened the first page, I instantly fell in love. The books have an amazing ability to suck you into its world. The books came into a time of my life where I really needed them. You see, my mother and my step-father were separating at that time. For months, all I had to come home to was screaming, fighting and crying. It was a very difficult time for me, because I hated seeing my mother in such a desperate ...

A friend of mine, Sandra Mandfredi-Bitton, who submitted her essay on how Twilight has changed her mind, invited me to share my thoughts with you. Sandra and I met in a continuing education class at Dawson. I distinctly remember her asking me if I had heard of Twilight and went on to rant and rave about this story/movie. She showed me the powerful letter she had written and I was moved by the powerful grip this story had over this woman. I normally like to read non-fiction such as biographies and true stories simply because the authenticity, based on truth, allows me to empathize with the main characters. But once I tasted Twilight, things could never be the same… Twilight: The Power of Unspoken Truths As the words on the pages quickly began to fill my mind and seep into my subconscious, I could almost immediately feel my deepest senses coming alive. The emotional pull into the story was like that of becoming caught in an ocean ...

Here is another missive from a couple of Twihards. Our names are Taryn Katz and Ilana Zackon and we are potentially the biggest Twilighters in Montreal , we kid you not. Not only are we huge fans of the series and movies, but we are involved in the Twilight fandom as well. Last year, we started a petition for a Canadian Twilight convention after we saw all the cons popping up only in the US . Thousands of Canadians joined in and helped us reach our goal. The petition has now evolved into what is now known as TwiCon Toronto 2010 (http://www.twicon.org). We also have a "twitube" channel on YouTube called TwilightUnplugged with almost 700 subscribers. We like poking fun at Twilight and try to explain to people what makes it so great. Our videos involve spoofs as well as video blogs. You can check it out here: http://www.youtube.com/TwilightUnplugged Even though we have all of this going on, we're still your regular obsessive teenage Twilight fans. It would be ...

We put the call out for big-time fans of Twilight and got swift response from some of the city's most ardent boosters of the vampire series. Click here for my story in the old-school paper about some of these die-hard fans. Oh and you can click here for my profile of Canadian actor Christopher Heyerdahl, who appears in New Moon as one of the members of the Volturi clan. And here are a couple of the emails from Twihards that landed in my Inbox. Hey my name's Ashlyn Vo, I'm nearly 15 years old and I'm definitely a huge Twilight fan. I first discovered Twilight 2 years ago when I first set my eyes on a particular book with a pair of white hands holding an apple. Since then, I have been a Twilight addict...lending out all my books and making all of my friends read the series and fall in love with it, just like I have. Back then, I had only first heard of Twilight (it wasn't such a huge frenzy, it was actually unknown) and hungered for people to talk to about all the ...

I am writing a package of stories for the Saturday Gaz tied to the release of The Twilight Saga: New Moon, which has its Montreal premiere Nov. 18 and then opens everywhere across the continent (and the province) on Thursday, Nov. 19 at 10 p.m. In fact, the nifty marketing hook the studio has come up with is that you can go see Twilight once again at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 19 and then stick around for the 10 p.m. screening of New Moon. (Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson in New Moon. Courtesy of Seville Pictures.) I will have a profile of Canadian actor Christopher Heyerdahl who plays Marcus, one of the members of the Volturi clan of vampires and has also appeared in a bunch of French Québécois films. Here's where I need your help though. We will also be running a few little mini-profiles of hardcore Twilight fans. Are you a huge fan? Do you have a friend who lives and dies by the series? If so, please email me at bkelly@thegazette.canwest.com And we can maybe get you ...
