-+Baited breath: Mistakes We've Made, Nov. 25/09
Assistanteditor 3 days ago
In the Nov. 20 issue, the cutline for a  City Frame pic of a dog waiting outside a Thai restaurant for its human companion contained an error. The dog, otherwise known as Akasha, was waiting with "bated breath" for owner Simon Daniels, and not "baited breath." Thanks to long-time reader Mike Tropp for pointing that one out. The dog was equally chagrined at the mistake. In the Nov. 25 issue (today), the website for RAD BC was wrongly rendered. The website is www.radbc.ca , not www.radbc.com. Also in the same issue, Fred Lee's UnLeeshed column was too starstruck by Twilight-mania to remember that the author of the toothy series spells her first name with a non-standard vowel. It's Stephenie Meyer, not Stephanie. And Team K&K , in dissing (although only in passing) one of our country's great northern territories, forgot all their geography lessons and mentioned some place called "Nunavat." In the real world, it's ...

-+Headaches and the 2010 Olympics: Web Nation Poll update, Nov.13/09

It's Friday, it's late and you want to go home. You also have a headache, but you need to write a quick blog post before you'll allow yourself the freedom to venture out into the dark November cold. You're committed, calm, and open-minded, but at this moment, you're also cranky. You, reader, could be an editor at the end of a trying week of compressed deadlines and detailed planning for the holiday period. More likely, you're a member of Web Poll Nation answering a question about the 2010 Winter Olympics. Last week we asked WPN: "As venues open and excitement builds for the 2010 Winter Games, are you getting ... a) Olympic fever; b) an Olympic headache." WPN responded by ordering a crate of Tylenol and voting overwhelmingly, by 86 per cent, to indicate their head hurts. This was something of a surprise. With less than 100 days to go before the Games begin in February, a lot of people we know who were otherwise opposed to the expense of hosting the event have given ...
