...None of the South Koreans I've met in Windsor knows a North Korean and some of them don’t really know English. But they all know how to golf. Their love for the game persists through the dark of night and the dead and gone of winter. On days when neither you nor even I would venture outside, let alone hit golf balls, chances are at least one South Korean die hard has blasted balls from beneath the heated stalls at Tecumseh Golf. ...One of my secret pleasures is walking my dog Sunny late at night and window shopping in Pillette Village on Wyandotte Street. There always seems to a new painting or sculpture in the window of Nancy Johns ’ eclectic art studio. The same holds true for Vincent Franzoi’s gallery across the street. Ditto for Paula’s. Upcoming events and fundraisers are always being promoted on colourful flyers in the window of Riverside Music . I miss strolling by the gritty Royale Tavern and sneaking a peak through the grubby window, but the new Shoppers Drug Mart has gone up in a flash. Months ago, I developed a secret crush on one of Johns’ original paintings and walked by it nearly every night and studied it intently for several minutes. It must have looked to passing motorists like Sunny and I were planning some big art heist and casing the joint. But then one night I strolled up to the window and the painting was gone.
