The Mezuzah bears witness that the entire home and all that is within it are permeated by the Torah passages inscribed in the Mezuzah, beginning with: “Hear, O Israel, the L-rd is our G-d, the L-rd is One”; and concluding with G-d’s promise of Redemption.
“Contrive a scheme, but it will be foiled; conspire a plot, but it will not materialize, for G-d is with us... Indeed the righteous will extol Your Name; the upright will dwell in Your presence.” Two verses from the daily prayers.

On the very first word of the Torah, “Breishis”, the Talmud comments: “Do not just read it ‘Breishis — In the beginning’, but ‘Bara Shis — He created a foundation.’” The very first step in the service of G-d is to learn to see beneath the world’s surface, to its “foundation” — G-d, the Creator.
