There are certainly some handbags that are worth enough to be used as collateral. A company in Hong Kong named Yes Lady Finance lets women borrow against their designer handbags. One lady took out a lown against her $39,000 Hermes handbag. Hopefully, these women will get their loans paid off. If not the handbag ends up at a second-hand store. A robotic nurse named 21 was designed to help the elderly. A patient can place his or her hands on the robots huge hands and the robot will help them get into a wheelchair. 21 can also cook eggs and make and serve toast. The Washington Post reports that a mutated version of the H1N1 virus has been discovered by Norwegian scientists. The scientists say the mutation could cause a more severe disease. In a statement, the Norwegian Institute of Public Health said the mutation "could possibly make the virus more prone to infect deeper in the airways and thus cause more severe disease," such as pneumonia. The institute said that there was no indication that the mutation would hinder the ability of the vaccine to protect people from becoming infected or impair the effectiveness of antiviral drugs in treating people who became infected. Two patients found to have the mutated swine flu virus died and a third is severly ill. The Washington Post says a statement released by the Norwegian Institute of Public Health said, "Based on what we know so far, it seems that the mutated virus does not circulate in the population, but might be a result of spontaneous changes which ...
At the premiere of Ninja Assassin the Associated Press decided to get celebrities' opinions on Oprah Winfrey's announcement that she is ending The Oprah Winfrey Show and why people love Oprah so much. The movie's star, pop star and actor Rain said he just loves her and that she has a great heart. Lisa Ling, Russell Simmons and producer/director Joel Silver (Sherlock Holmes, The Matrix) all weighed in. Most people went on and on about what a wonderful person Oprah is, but Silver's answer was hilarious: he said she's not going anywhere, she's going to cable to make even more money.
