My insurance pays 50% of my mental health therapy sessions(im in nyc).....my doctor has agreed to bill his standard rate to the insurance company ie $150 per hour ...the insurance would pay $75 to my doctor and since i cant really afford to pay $75(ie remaining 50%) my doctor has agreed to take $35 from me instead.......my doctor is a kind caring individual.....and i dont want this act of altruism to get anyone in trouble....is this legal, etc?

Ok, in April of this year I bought a 2001 Ford Focus SE used off the lot at the local Ford dealer for cash. The car had 72k miles and was in great shape. Its run great since with 0 issues what-so-ever. on October 13th I was rear-ended in the turn-around lane by a Ford Econoline van doing about 20mph. The guy who hit me had State Farm Insurance. Claim: 20k Deductible: 5k Insurance company's payout to me: 15k Questions: 1. If I do the work myself, and get the work done for, say 10k, will the insurance company ask for 5k back at the end of the 1year when the claim is closed? 2. Can I add upgrades to the house using the 5k? 3. Are there any tax implications if I take up the work myself, like having to pay taxes on the 15k, etc because this would have now been income (if I had used a contractor)? Thanks, Nimbus
